I looked out the window of my bedroom to inspect the weather, which was slightly overcast, yet beautiful. I looked back to my mirror and noticed that I had forgot to cover the now purple and blue bruise that stretched from the bottom of my ear to my mouth. I pulled my desk drawer open and pulled out a bottle of foundation, I spread a generous amount across the spot; I cringed from the pain, but continued rubbing the makeup in. Covering up the marks with makeup always made me feel fruity, but it stopped people from asking about them, and then calling my mom and me getting beaten for the bother. It had gone all wrong, how could it have ended like this? It was supposed to all turn out perfect… I walked home slowly, dreading the moment I would reach the front door. I closed my eyes and breathed deeply as I started walking up the porch, my hand shook as I slid the key into the locked door. I quietly opened it and tip toed past the seemingly normal kitchen, as I started up the brown, carpeted stairs I head footsteps. “What the hell took you so long?” it was my mother, she has been bitter towards me ever since my father died.
